Travel Certificates

If you wish to travel with your exotic pet, it’s important to know the requirements. For each species the requirements are different and in ceratin cases the number of animals traveling is of importants.

Some species, like ferrets,  need an EU-passport. However most exotic pet species only require a travel certificate that can be issued by your veterinarian.

For exotic species it’s important to know if  (and which catogery) they are CITES species, since this will require more documents and will take more time.

If you travel outside of the EU, requirements are set by the destination (and transit) country and it’s wisely to consult with the embassy.

Hospitalization

Most of the time treatment will be on a out-patient basis. However if hospitalization is inevitable, there are ways to make it less stressfull. A toy or an item that smells like home or the owner can be placed in the cage. In social species a bonded companion can come along. Known food items, incl. treats can also reduce the stress of hospitalization.

House Calls

In specific cases I may be able to come to your home and examine your pet. Often this is not possible though, for the simple reason that diagnostics like radiograph or ultrasound can’t be done at your home.

Euthanasia & Cremation

It’s probably the hardest decision you will ever make, but it’s the kindest thing you can do for your pet when its extremely ill and his or her quality of life is questionable. I’ll try to support you and answer all your questions.

If you wish to be by the side of your pet during euthanasia, this is possible.

You will also have to decide what to do with your pets remains after euthanasia. You can choose burial, cremation or ecarisage.

Post-mortem Examination

After your pet has died, you may wish to have a post-mortem examination done. It can reveal the cause of death or exclude certain diseases. After a post-mortem examination you can choose to burry or cremate your animal or leave it for ecarisage.
