My way into the exotic vet world
Born and raised in the Netherlands. As a young girl I dreamed of working with animals and inspired by Jane Goodall I started studying Biology in Utrecht (NL) in 2000.
Two years later I moved to Austria to start my Veterinary Study in Vienna. I had the chance to be the first to do a major in Conservation Medicine, which allowed me to get hand-on experience with Zoo- and Wildlife medicine.
After graduation in 2009 I started my first job as a veterinarian at Animo Veterinary Clinic in Sofia (Bulgaria). In May 2010 Central Veterinary Clinic opened its doors and for the next ten years I was part of their highly motivated team. I was privileged to examine mainly exotic pets. Besides my daily exotic patients in the clinic I also examined many of Sofia’s Zoo animals.
On several occasions I assisted The World Parrot Trust with examinations and care for confiscated African Grey Parrots.
Professional Development
To keep my knowledge up-to-date I attended conferences, workshops and online courses in the field of avian, reptile and exotic small mammal veterinary medicine. My certificates you can find here.
Bulgarian Activities
Since 2021 I am a co-founder of Bunny Rescue Bulgaria and conduct many rabbit spays and neuters, as well as dental trimmings.
