Emergencies
In case of an emergency, you may contact me by phone. I will asses the urgency of the problem and instruct you what to do next.
If my schedule allows it, I will see to your pet myself. In case I am not available, I will recommend a colleague.
After Hour Emergencies
Since I work on a freelance basis at multiple locations, it may be inevitable for a colleague to tend to your sick pet. If necessary I will consult the veterinarian treating your animal.
Most birds and small mammals hide their illness and the moment that you as an owner notice your pet is not doing well, you need to call your veterinarian immediately.
What signs to look for:
Birds – fluffed up, sleeping most of the time, not eating, watery (bloody) stools, swollen abdomen, open mouth breathing.
Rabbits & Rodents – not moving, not eating (less appetite), bloated abdomen, dyspnoe, true blood in the urine.
Reptiles – protruding tissue from the cloaca, muscle twitching (tremors), open mouth breathing.
